DRIVING
Bamfield is located on the west side of Vancouver Island.
From Nanaimo: Port Alberni is located 85 kilometers northwest on
excellent highways. From Port Alberni follow the signs to Bamfield, 80
kilometers south. The road, with gravel sections, is kept in good condition
so the average car has no problems.
From Victoria: Duncan is 51 kilometers north on Highway #1. At
Duncan, follow the Lake Cowichan exit, passing the lake and following
the signs.
Both access roads are well signed for Bamfield routes.
NOTE: There is active logging in the area. Logging trucks have
the right-of-way on the road at ALL times.
BUS SERVICE
May through September daily shuttle bus service is provided by
West Coast Trail Express to and
from Victoria, Nanaimo and Port Alberni. Reservations are required.
We will be happy to make the arrangements for you. Pick-up and
drop-off for the bus is at the Bamfield Trails Hotel.
BY WATER
Bamfield is served from Port Alberni by either the MV Lady Rose or the MV
Frances Barkley 4 days a week in the summer and two days per week
in the fall and winter. Contact

It's a beautiful morning trip down Alberni inlet, stopping at
scenic inlets and coves to provide freight service to the numerous
isolated lodges and villages en route.
In Bamfield both government docks are regular stops. On the west
side of Bamfield Inlet the Bamfield Inn is just steps
from the government dock, while the Hawkeye Lodge and Bamfield
Trails Hotel are adjacent to the east government dock.
Hawkeye Marine Group has several marinas for your private boat
located at Kingfisher Lodge, Hawkeye Lodge/Bamfield Trails, Bamfield
Inn, and Ostrom Lodge/The Bay Lodge.

Finding your Accommodations in Bamfield
On
the east side of Bamfield inlet:
Bamfield Trails Hotel is located at the main intersection
entering Bamfield and handles check-in for Hawkeye House, the Bay Lodge, Ostrom's and Blacksmith.
Continue up the hill past Bamfield Trails to get to Kingfisher Lodge.
